The children's bedroom

The children’s bedroom can be found on the mezzanine and is also known as the Blue Room.

It has one open side where the staircase can be found that leads to the lounge. The staircase is protected by a stair gate to ensure security for the children.

Opposite the mezzanine on the other side of the landing is the other double bedroom.

The mezzanine has two gorgeous single beds (120 x 190cm) on castors, in the typical style found in old Vendée houses.

In the olden days this type of bed was always secured to the wall and we have kept this tradition in the mezzanine room. Now each bed is meant solely for one person but it’s interesting to note that in the olden days they were meant for a couple of children.

An unusual feature of our gîte is that these beds are positioned in ‘toe to toe’ layout. This allows conversation but the occupants cannot see each other when they are lying down in bed.

The children's room

It’s definitely the largest room of the house and also the room with the lowest ceilings.

The height of the ceiling is reasonable for an adult at the end where the beds are, but as one moves further towards the far wall the ceiling height reduces and that is why we have reserved this room for children.

It allows them to have a play room and reading space that perfectly fits their size. A small sofa can be found on the opposite side of the room to the beds in the lower ceilinged area.

As with the other rooms, the beds are freshly made prior to your arrival. Pillows, blankets or quilts (depending upon the season) make up the bed and there are spare sets of bed linen in the Louis-Phillippe style wardrobe in the double room across the landing.
